Ms. Boland’s work as a freelance writer and passionate climber make her an invaluable new member of HERA’s Board. As a writer, she specializes in marketing content. Her clients have included Black Diamond, Marmot, Marker, Buff, Sterling Rope, Outdoor Research and Patagonia, just to name a few. She also blogs and works as a contributing editor with Rock and Ice magazine.
Her rock climbing career has taken her on a 14-year journey around the world. Currently, her sponsors include Black Diamond, La Sportiva and Sterling Rope.
“We are thrilled to welcome Whitney to our board of directors,” explains Samantha Lockwood, HERA Board President. “Much like HERA’s founder, Sean Patrick, Whitney has made a clear connection to climbing and health and has been a champion for HERA and the fight against ovarian cancer for many years. As an advocate, friend, former intern, and now board member, Ms. Boland understands that one in 72 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their lifetime and wants to help change the survival rate. We believe that she is a young and inspiring force for women who will help HERA gain new friends and raise critical funds for scientific research grants aimed at eliminating ovarian cancer.”
