The HERA Foundation announces the availability of a new Science Grant and our annual Community Awareness Grants. The newly-established Sean Patrick Multidisciplinary Collaborative Ovarian Cancer Research Award will provide funding for a cross-disciplinary project that is collaborative in nature. The application must identify two or more scientists with different, yet complementary, skills and explain how these skills will be synergistic in addressing the ovarian cancer problem. Applications are due June 1 and the $50,000 award will be announced in August. For more info: www.herafoundation.org/programs-research/science-grants/application-process-2/.
In addition, the HERA Foundation gives two seed grants annually of $1,000 each to help non-profit organizations start programs or support existing programs that improve the quality-of-life for women with the disease or raise awareness in novel and unusual ways. The HERA Community Awareness Grants are given to 501(c)(3) organizations, and the application deadline is June 1. For more info: www.herafoundation.org/programs-research/community-grants/overview/.
Are you a survivor of ovarian cancer, and would you be willing to share your experience? The HERA Foundation is looking for stories of motivation and inspiration and about how women dealt with their illness. These Action Hero Survivor Stories are regularly posted on the HERA website; read the current story by Eden Ellman: http://dev.herafoundation.org/programs-research/action-hero-survivors/.
The HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to stop the loss of women from ovarian cancer by promoting Health, Empowerment, Research, and Awareness. As a nationally recognized non-profit ovarian cancer organization, HERA provides funding for cutting-edge research grants to scientists at respected medical institutions. In so doing, HERA attracts more young researchers to expand the scientific understanding of ovarian cancer while improving the lives of those battling the disease. In addition, we award grants to local community groups to raise awareness about the disease in novel and unusual ways. To learn more, visit us at: www.herafoundation.org.
